Long Bay Beach nightlife - dance, drink, have fun!
Ask around to find out which hotel might have entertainment on any given evening. Steel bands and fungi or scratch bands (African Caribbean musicians who improvise on locally available instruments) appear regularly, and nonresidents are usually welcome. Pick up a copy of Limin' Times, an entertainment magazine that lists what's happening locally; it's usually available at hotels. The evenings are glorious and quiet at Long Bay Beach--this is not the place to be if you want the nightlife and you have to boogie. The resort has good three good restaurants with reliable if not eye-watering menus. If you want total decompression, this is where you'll find it. Bring lots of beach books, gallons of sun screen, and a floppy hat to sleep under. Once bitten, you'll be back again and again. Long Bay is the place to where minds wander if the weather stinks, stuck in rush hour traffic, or the job gets too stressful. It is possibly one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the world--and not that many people seem to know about it. Unlike most other BVI beaches, the reefs and natural breakwaters that protect Long Bay Beach keep the zillions of holiday sailboat charters away, with there loud partiers and view-cluttering anchorages. Great diving is close by with easily arranged half-day charters and transport from the resort. There's a great little spa at the Long Bay Beach Resort as well--steam, massages, facials. etc. Nightlife is exciting and varied, from the unique Bomba's Shack next door in Apple Bay to that famous native son, Quito Rymer, and his memorable brand of island music in beautiful Cane Garden Bay, up the coast a bit. In the other direction, Soper's Hole, that special place for sailors as well as shoppers, is a outing to be rembembered for the Wharf with Pusser's Landing, West Indian architecture, and a Painkiller--one of the famous local drinks. Romance abounds in these islands with another exciting adventure just around the corner.
